For Now

For now, I am taking a break from the illustration and illustrationfriday.com as my world has spun in the direction of photography, painting and design.
For recent work click the photography and painting links.

I spy

I have been rather unweekly about the illustrationfriday.com weekly contributions of late, I blame moving house twice in four months, and possibly the weather. Tis most uninspiring to do unpaid illustration work when one's life evolves around cardboard boxes. But now, I live beside the seaside...and all is most grand and inspiring.

This weeks topic had me finally putting aquarell to paper , a notion an old friend said to me many years ago....which still gives me a giggle.
Bit of a quick roughy....I was afterall... sipping hazelnut coffee by the the sea at the time...

gravity{plays a bum note}

I have been working on this peice for a couple of weeks, the third in a series of experiments for an ongoing project. While it is not so much a depiction of this weeks Illustrationfriday.com topic as such , both this weeks topic , gravity, as well as last weeks , crash, have played quite the parts in its development.....the crash topic gave me the idea of the about to fall flower pots, and gravity gave me the title which I felt added to the notion of the inevitable next sound about to come from this pianoesque operatus. I'm also considering naming the character Gravity.

smitten

Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.0.1)
smit‧ten  /ˈsmɪtn/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[smit-n]
–adjective
1. struck, as with a hard blow.
2. grievously or disastrously stricken or afflicted.
3. very much in love.
–verb
4. a pp. of smite.

My reaction to this weeks topic was a roll of the eyes and a groan.......smitten...an affliction best left to the kind of people that would purchase these ....{and I would suggest if your partner turned up with one of these you should probably suggest that you both start seeing other people}

So,upon flicking through other illustrationfriday submisssions I found the above definition{cut and pasted from cory godbey's blog...afflicted!...now that I can play with...and so, after veiwing Rozencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead last week...the line "he's afflicted" has stuck in my head... so here is this mornings quick ink...of the afflicted Hamlet...

I am taking a holiday in my own loungeroom this week, and thus I've nought the time for an illustration friday, so here's one I prepared earlier
