Any Australian who has ever set fire to anything knows this brand of matches:




So for this weeks topic I scanned in the box and played with that famous image of the redhead..

First I warholed her....{which wasnt easy with my photoshop being up the diddly and not cropping}





Then I decided to try and make her whole...




I still havent decided what to have her setting fire to yet...but I had a play with the idea of her setting fire to a boyfriends guitar after he played just one too many Hendrix tunes..



But I'm still tossing over notions before I draw something in ...any suggestions most welcome..offering a match to nero? ....setting fire to the prime ministers pants?...her grandmother?....dick smith after his release of his own brand of matches called "dickheads"?..I kid you not...

A photoshopped rough sketch of my daughter for this weeks illustration friday topic : play

She is an avid drama student, and has recently been working on a play in the greek style, an adaptaion she wrote herself, of the tale of Persephone,daughter of Zues, being taken to the underworld by Hades..

Students perform wearing masks to represent their characters....my daughter was playing the part of Demeter, who gets rather narky that that HER daughter, Persephone, has to live on pomegranete seeds whilst spending her six months of the year in the underworld...

It is by sheer coincidence that my dear daughter has this expression of acting as Demeter admonishing Hades with an : "you expect my daughter to live on a mere six seeds of THIS?! "... she is actually giving me a look of "mum...quit the lecture & just hurry up and finish whatever craziness you are up to"

Meanwhile... i ponder the wisdom{or lack there of} of encouraging a teenage drama queen to take lessons in drama


And this is an older peice that doesnt have a home, so seeing as it fits the topic , it can live here

These are my hands..drawn from a photo...as to try and draw ones own hands whilst they are tied is rather tricky... I've always wanted to do a drawing of just hands but was never quite brave enough... but have learnt through this sketch to not be a such a big girls blouse about such things....also learnt that I will never be into bondage..I did not like being tied up at all

Now that I look at it on the screen , it looks like the hands themselves could be about to capture something in their grasp....hmmmmmmm...
